What is product design?

Its a question that any product designer never really has the answer to. Product design has so much versatility to what you can do and what is the limit to the possible and impossible in terms of creation.

The way i put it is that everything you can buy as a product that has a specific use or just purely aesthetic has to be designed or created. That's where we come in. We are the problem solvers to everyday issues no matter how big or small, in any product on the market. Go look at any car on the street, mug in a coffee shop, shoes in a clothing store or even a hand mixer in the kitchen. every single one of those things had a design team and was created specifically for its purpose using the product design mindset and techniques of ideation and development. Products don't just appear out of thin air, it requires endless trial and error. You might have a concept that you like but it might require altering that concept a hundred times to get that perfect form. Product design finds the perfect balance between art and engineering. When ideating you must consider the technical aspects of its purpose and combine its features with its aesthetics to make it the best it can be. A fun thing you should try next time an item or product catches your eyes is try and think about how it developed to become what it is. ROL Designs
